We have come so far in our history or great speakers and speeches.
Is anyone, other than the comedians, actually going to miss this guy?!?!?!

Catching Up
I haven't posted in a while as there have been more than a few distractions going on in my life. I will post more to bring you all up to speed on those details over the next week.
To catch you up on some of the happenings that I have been following these past weeks, this past weekend wrapped up the Amgen Tour of California. And, as I previously predicted, the ToC was a tremendous showing for the new Team Astana and for our favorite US based team, Slipstream-Chipotle.
When all was said and done after a soggy, cold, windy week of racing in California, California's own Levi Leipheimer of Astana took the top spot with Slipstream's David Millar and Christian Vandevelde taking second and third.
Despite the weather (check out that black cloud!), and a nasty stomach bug wreaking havoc on the peleton, it was a terrific week of racing to watch. I am just glad I did not have to ride in it.
More posts and info on the future coming soon!

The wait is over.....
The waiting and the wondering is over. Today was the day. The guns fired at the office.
I have a new boss, but I dodged the bullet.
I live to work another day, and set the course on my own terms.
Thank you to all of you that have sent me the well wishes over the last few days. I believe the good MoJo, and my lucky shirt, made the difference.

Nothing left but the waiting
That's it, it's finally here. All the weeks of wondering, and worrying. Theorizing, and planning are over. This week I finally learn if I am losing my job. If you are reading relief in that last sentence, you are correct. The past few weeks since our CEO announced additional layoffs were coming have been anything but pleasant.
The performance of the company as a whole has been way down as the overall motivation of the employees resembles something close to hooking a large vacuum up to the building, and switching it on. To use one of the best Spaceballs quotes ever, "we've gone from suck to blow".
I have also been playing some tough mental games with myself. Have I done enough to show my "value add"? What else can I do? Does my Senior VP even know what I do?? If I am on a list, am I on the right list? Not the best use of my time.
I have always liked to think that I am in control of my career direction, my life. Sitting, waiting the last few weeks I have realized that I have been fooling myself. I simply had the illusion of control. The reality is, I liked my illusion, and initially found it quite demoralizing to have it taken away. I did not like having to ask myself "who's in control of my life"?
But, now it is all done, except for the answer. I have accepted the illusion, and am willing to function within it. I am back in control of my life, and armed with the ability to impact my own change. I have dusted myself off, and am once again a motivated participant in the corporate game. The hardest thing has been not knowing, and the victory will be in finally learning the answer.
So, this week, the guns are being loaded in our office, and I shall accept my final meal, deliver my projects, and close out my files while I wait to learn my fate. One thing I do not have to wait for is the knowledge that, regardless the answer this week, I am going to be just fine.

Sometimes some of the strangest things make me laugh. How can you go wrong? Star Wars, Legos, John Williams score.....

Slumber Party
I used to love having slumber party's as a kid. Having my friends over to play, eat dinner, watch a movie, and then talk the night away. Gavin and Isabelle are growing up so fast. Tonight they hosted their first co-ed slumber party , and had their best friends Ryan and Jessica spend the night.
As with any great co-ed party, the girls ran around in their panties....
Painted some terrific masterpieces....
The boys built a fort, and filled it with their favorite toys.....
Then it was into our jammies for everyone.....
And into the fort to snuggle up, and watch a movie.
As of this posting, Gavin and Ryan can still be heard chatting away in their beds. I am afraid to report, that not all of the topics are fit for print.
